Today, Dany Padire wrote an article on the Huffington Post about the alleged death of Al Quida member Mokhtar Belmokhtar. Last month, Belmokhtar attacked a natural gas plant in Algeria which resulted in the death of many people. Even though Belmokhtar is not a leader of Al Quida, he is known as the money maker, because of his trade in the cocaine business that brings revenue to the terrorist group. After this attack, Belmokhtar apparently escaped from Algeria and hid in a jihadist base in Northern Mali. Since the initial attack in Belmokhtar, the French military has been trying to capture or kill Belmokhtar , who was traced in Mali, but they had never found him. Luckily, the Chadian military, who had troops deployed in the area, had spotted Belmokhtar in a jihadist base. The base was destroyed with Belmokhtar becoming a casualty. Not only does the Chadian military take pride and credit for the death of Belmokhtar, but also for the death of Abou Zeid , an Al Quida leader who was also in the area, a day earlier. The French military cannot confirm either death until further investigations take place, but at this point it is suspected that both Belmokhtar and Zeid have been definitely killed.
